The Mercedes-Benz GLS is undoubtedly on top of the SUV lineup of Mercedes-Benz. It is very spacious and luxurious, unlike the G63 AMG. The interior of the car is loaded with premium materials and all the latest techs. The huge adjoining gauge cluster and infotainment screen looks absolutely amazing and gives the car a very futuristic look. The car is offered in two different hybrid models and all-wheel-drive s available in both the models. It has a lot of additional features such as the adjustable air suspension, and much more.

Mercedes-Benz GLS Performance

Two different models are offered in the 2020 GLS lineup. The base model offers a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 362 horsepower, and the top-end model which offers a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that helps it to produce 483 horsepower. The GLS lineup offers very good handling and there’s a camera in front of the car to detect the bumps on the road and automatically adjust the air suspension so that you cannot feel a single bump on the road. Another new system named the E-Active body control feature is offered by Mercedes in its largest SUV.

The 2020 GLS lineup offers two different hybrid models. The base models have a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 362 horsepower, and the top-end model which offers a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that helps it to produce 483 horsepower. There are a lot of different additional features in the car as well such as the adjustable air suspension. The interior of the car is also very premium and luxurious. The two models offered are:

The two gigantic 12.3-inch screens which denote the gauge system and the infotainment system. The infotainment system has an MBUX software configuration installed. Additional configurations offered are Apple Carplay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot. The 13-speaker Burmester Surround Sound stereo system is available as standard and an optional Burmester 3D stereo system with a 26-speaker setup is also available.

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy of the GLS is not very good. The GLS450 has a fuel economy of 19 miles-per-gallon in the city and 23 miles-per-gallon on the highway. The GLS580 offers 16 miles-per-gallon in the city and 21 miles-per-gallon on the highway.

Safety & Driver Assistance

The GLS lineup hasn’t been crash-tested yet but it offers some cool drive assistance features such as:

  • Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
  • Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
  • Adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
