New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Powertrain
The all-new C-Class is introduced in petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid models. All the models comprise the same 9-speed-automatic gearbox which is said to be lighter and more efficient than the current gearbox. All models also come with a 48V belt-integrated starter generator (BISG) that helps to recover energy under deceleration to provide a power boost of up to 20bhp.
The petrol range starts from the 1.5-litre C180 that pumps out 170hp and 263Nm. The second petrol variant is the C200 and it also shares the 1.5-litre engine and offers 204hp and 300Nm. The top petrol variant, the C300 inherits a 2.0-litre engine which offers 259hp and 400Nm.
The diesel lineup also comprises three models namely C200d, C220d, and the current range-topper C300d. All three models inherit the 2.0-litre diesel engine and pump out 163hp, 200hp, and 265hp respectively.
The plug-in hybrid model will be introduced in the near future and we’ll be able to give you some better facts and figures about it once it is officially launched.
New C-Class Exterior
The exterior of the new C-Class has been fully revamped, the major updates include the new headlights and taillights that are very similar to the new E-Class. The overall proportions of the car almost remain the same as the wheelbase has been increased by 25mm to 2,865mm and the overall length is up by 65mm but the looks have changed a lot.
It has been said that there’s additional space in the cabin and extra 30 litres has been added to the cargo space.
What Are The Interior Changes In The New C-Class?
The interior of the New C-Class matches the new S-Class, as you can see for yourself the screen is smaller in the C-Class as compared to the S-Class and there are some differences in the colour combination and the restyling of the AC vents are some few minor things that we notice that differ from the S-Class’s interior.
Some technological advancements include the 10.25-inch digital cluster and the big infotainment display, the steering now consists of touch-sensitive controls and the rotary knob has also been eliminated like the rest of the buttons, the cabin also has ambient lighting and its just a minimal feature but it looks mind-blowing.
The leather seats are also very supportive and the revised styling of the AC vents gives the car a cockpit kind of a look.
When Will The New C-Class Come To India?
The official announcement hasn’t been made yet about launching the W206 C-Class in the Indian market but we’re sure that it will come as their competition is getting better every year i.e. BMW 3-Series and Audi A4.
