What’s New For The Next-Gen Hyundai Elantra?

The new Hyundai Elantra is completely redesigned from the outside and filled with some serious tech from in the inside. For the 2021 model year, Hyundai will introduce the first hybrid Elantra. And that’s is like a big step for the company. A new sports model is also introduced as the new N-Line model that will be more aggressive and powerful than the basic models.

How Powerful is the New Elantra?

The New Elantra carries over the engine from the previous year model. The non-hybrid Elantra models will offer a four-cylinder engine that will produce 147 horsepower and the front-wheel-drive and the CVT transmission are standard in all the models. The new hybrid model offers a new 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that will be connected to an electric motor that will help it deliver 139 horsepower.

For India, Hyundai could offer a 1.5-liter diesel engine and the petrol model will have the same engine as the Hyundai Creta SUV that is the 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engine, and that model can be the Turbo variant that is offered in all the latest Hyundai cars such as Grand i10, Creta, Verna, Aura, etc.

New Hyundai Elantra’s Interior

There are some very interesting features in the new Elantra’s interior such as the new twin 10.25-inch screens and the four-spoke steering wheel. The twin screens will be associated with the instrument cluster and the other one will operate the infotainment system.

Some additional features that will be available in the India-bound model will include an eight-speaker Bose sound system, Hyundai’s Blue Link technology, ventilated seats, electric sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, and a digital key that will unlock and start the car.

Fuel Economy

The fuel economy estimates are not yet declared by the company as the engine of the car is the same as last year’s model so we don’t expect much of a difference in the fuel economy of the car. But the new hybrid model that is going to be launched in the international markets is expected to have a great fuel economy.

Safety & Driver Assistance Features Offered by the 2021 Hyundai Elantra

The key safety features of the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will be airbags, ESC & ABS, and a safety kit. And there are some very latest driver assistance features that are expected to come with the India model as well. These features include:

  • Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
  • Lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist.
  • Adaptive cruise control with ane centering feature.
